Hello and welcome to my Cantoverde Papillon site. My name is Susan Lanson and I live in Cumbria, United Kingdom, with, at present, my 2 lovely Papillons. My affix ‘Cantoverde’ is an Italian name and stands for ‘Greenside’ which is the name of my house.
I started my show career in 1989 when I owned & successfully showed Italian Spinones and Standard Wirehaired Dachshunds. The most dogs I owned at any one time were 6. I have never had a large kennel as I like to be able to give a one-to-one to all my dogs. I bred dogs that were as closely as possible to the Breed Standard and also for soundness in body & temperament. ‘Quality’ NOT ‘quantity’ is my motto in life. I suppose when you decide to start ‘showing’ and do well, it soon gets in your blood and you want more & more. I suppose you can say that you ‘get hooked’ on it. When I lost my last Spinone, Holly, I was devastated and could not even think of having another dog for well over a year. As I could not replace like-for-like I decided to look for another breed that was similar in temperament and fitted my lifestyle. Having done a lot of research I decided on the Papillon. This breed has exceeded all my expectations.
I bought my first Papillon in 2006 (Poppy) and she has been a joy to own, show & live with. I love her to bits and she has done me proud. Poppy is not just ‘spoilt’ but is absolutely ‘ruined’. All my dogs have always been primarily my pets before being show dogs & of course they all live in the house with me.
I am now pleased to announce the arrival of Reilly who is an absolute gem. His temperament & character are second to none and I want to thank his breeders, Sean Carroll & James Newman (Denemore Papillons), for allowing me to own one of their outstanding dogs. Both Reilly & Poppy get on famously together and are inseparable. I hope the future will be good for the Cantoverde kennels.
Thank you also Sean & James for always being there for me & for your constant friendship, support & advice for which I am eternally grateful.
I hope you enjoy my website which is a tribute primarily to my dogs past & present and in time the future. This website will be constantly updated.
